SadaPay vs NayaPay for Freelancers in Pakistan (2026)

SadaPay vs NayaPay compared for Pakistani freelancers: receiving foreign payments, SadaBiz, remittance partners, cards, limits and invoice records.

By Invoice Creator Editorial Team 8 min read

For most Pakistani freelancers, the SadaPay vs NayaPay choice comes down to how foreign money reaches you. SadaPay, through its SadaBiz business product, is designed for invoicing and collecting from foreign freelance clients and bringing the dollars home quickly. NayaPay is strongest as a receiving wallet for international remittances sent through partners such as Wise, Remitly, Payoneer and Western Union. Both are SBP-regulated electronic money institutions with IBANs and debit cards, and many freelancers use both.

This comparison covers how each app receives foreign payments, cards, fees and limits, what changed with SadaPay's ownership, and how to keep invoice records that protect you at tax time. Fees, limits and partners change often in Pakistani fintech, so we stick to what the providers publish and tell you where to check the current numbers. For the wider picture, see our guide to receiving payment from abroad in Pakistan.

SadaPay for freelancers: SadaBiz

SadaPay's home page describes SadaBiz as a way to "bring USD home from your freelance clients within a business day," and shows platforms such as Upwork, Fiverr and Skrill among the ways money can arrive. Its pitch is to replace a slow, expensive chain of conversions with one product that lets a foreign client pay you and converts the funds into your SadaPay account. Reports have also covered SadaBiz adding Apple Pay and Google Pay acceptance for client payments, which helps when clients want to pay an invoice by card.

On the ownership side, Turkish fintech Papara agreed to acquire SadaPay in 2024, and the Competition Commission of Pakistan approved the 100% acquisition in August 2024. For users, the practical point is simple: products, partners and fees can change after an ownership change, so read the in-app notices and the current schedule of charges.

Strengths: purpose-built for freelancer invoicing, fast settlement, clean app, Mastercard debit card for spending online and abroad. Watch out for: some countries cannot send payments due to regulatory restrictions, wallet limits, and FX spreads that are not always shown up front.

NayaPay for freelancers: remittance partners

NayaPay's help center explains that users can receive international transfers from global remittance partners directly into their NayaPay account, naming Wise, Ace, Remitly, Payoneer and Western Union among them. In the app you go to Add Money, then International Transfers, and search for the sending country to see which partners deliver there.

For freelancers, that matters because a common route is: platform or client pays you in Payoneer or Wise, then you send it to Pakistan through a partner that delivers into your NayaPay wallet. NayaPay also offers Visa and PayPak debit cards and virtual cards for online spending.

Strengths: broad remittance partner list, familiar for receiving family and freelance transfers, local payments and bill payments. Watch out for: NayaPay does not position itself as a multi-currency account, so money is generally received in rupees; exchange rates depend on the sending partner.

Worked example: getting a $1,000 invoice paid

The figures below are purely illustrative, because rates and fees change daily. A Lahore-based developer invoices a US client $1,000.

RouteStepsCosts to compare
Direct to SadaBizClient pays the SadaBiz payment link; funds converted and credited to SadaPayAny SadaBiz fee plus the FX rate offered
Payoneer then NayaPayClient pays Payoneer; you send to NayaPay through a remittance partnerPayoneer receiving and transfer fees, partner fee, partner FX rate
Wise then NayaPayClient pays your Wise USD details; you send PKR to your NayaPay walletWise conversion fee and rate
Bank freelancer digital accountClient wires to your bank's foreign currency accountIntermediary bank fees, bank FX rate

To compare fairly, note how many rupees actually land for the same $1,000 on each route over a few months. A difference of a couple of rupees per dollar adds up to thousands of rupees a year. Our guides to Payoneer fees and Wise vs Payoneer help estimate the sending side.

Limits, verification and documentation

As EMIs, both apps apply wallet limits set under State Bank of Pakistan rules, with higher limits for fully verified accounts. If you regularly receive large amounts, check your current limits in the app before telling a client to send a big payment, otherwise funds may be delayed or returned. For larger, steady foreign income, many freelancers add a bank account; our guide to the freelancer digital account in Pakistan explains the bank option, and our JazzCash vs Easypaisa business account comparison covers the mobile wallet alternatives.

How to set up and use either app (step by step)

  1. Download the official app from the Play Store or App Store and verify with your CNIC and biometric checks.
  2. Complete full verification to raise your limits.
  3. Note your IBAN and account title exactly as shown.
  4. For SadaPay, apply for SadaBiz if you want to collect directly from foreign clients.
  5. For NayaPay, check the remittance partners for your client's country under Add Money.
  6. Send a small test payment before your first large invoice.
  7. Put the payment instructions on your invoice: payment link, or IBAN and account title, plus a note on which service to use.
  8. Download monthly statements and file them with your invoices.

Tax and record-keeping: why invoices matter

Foreign freelance income is taxable in Pakistan, and the rate can depend on whether you are registered as an IT exporter with PSEB and whether you file a return. Our guide to freelancer tax in Pakistan 2026 explains the current treatment, and how to become a filer covers getting onto the Active Taxpayer List. This is general information, not tax advice; speak to a tax practitioner about your situation.

Whatever wallet you use, keep a clean paper trail:

  • Issue a numbered invoice for every client payment, showing client name and country, service, currency and amount.
  • Match each invoice to the credit in your SadaPay or NayaPay statement.
  • Keep the remittance partner's receipt or transaction ID.
  • Record the rupee amount received and the exchange rate used.

Those records support your tax return and wealth statement, and they answer questions if your provider reviews unusual activity.

Common mistakes freelancers make

  • Telling clients to "send to my wallet" without checking that their sending service delivers to it.
  • Ignoring the exchange rate and only looking at the fee.
  • Exceeding wallet limits with a single large payment.
  • Mixing personal and freelance money in one wallet, which makes tax records messy.
  • Not issuing invoices for platform work. Platform reports help, but your own invoices tie everything together; see how to invoice for Fiverr and Upwork work.

What to put on an invoice to a foreign client

Clear invoices get paid faster and make every wallet credit easy to explain. Include:

  • Your full name or business name, CNIC-linked account title, city and country.
  • Your NTN if you have one; our guide on getting an NTN number explains how.
  • The client's company name, address and country.
  • A unique invoice number and date, plus the due date.
  • A description of the service, period covered and hours or milestones.
  • The amount and currency, usually USD, and who pays transfer fees.
  • Exact payment instructions: SadaBiz payment link, or the remittance service to use with your IBAN and account title.

Questions to ask before choosing

  1. Which countries are my clients in, and can they send to this app?
  2. How many rupees did I actually receive per dollar on my last three payments through each route?
  3. What are my current wallet limits, and will one large invoice exceed them?
  4. Does the app give me a statement I can use for my tax return and wealth statement?
  5. How quickly does support respond if a payment is stuck?

Answering these with your own transaction history is more reliable than any comparison table, because rates and partners change.

Which should you choose?

Pick SadaPay if you want a freelancer-focused product for direct client payments and quick USD settlement. Pick NayaPay if your money mostly arrives through remittance services and you want a wide partner list. Keeping both, plus a bank account, gives you options and a backup. For local client payments, Raast also lets you receive instant transfers to your IBAN. Frequently asked questions

Can I receive Upwork or Fiverr payments in SadaPay or NayaPay?

Not usually as a direct platform payout. Upwork and Fiverr pay out to methods such as Payoneer, bank accounts or other supported services. Freelancers commonly withdraw to Payoneer or a similar service and then send the money to Pakistan through a remittance channel that delivers to their SadaPay or NayaPay account or IBAN. SadaPay's business product, SadaBiz, also targets direct payments from freelance clients. Check each app's current list of supported senders before relying on a route.

Are SadaPay and NayaPay banks?

No. Both are electronic money institutions (EMIs) regulated by the State Bank of Pakistan. They provide wallets with IBANs, debit cards and payments, but they are not full commercial banks. Wallet balances and transactions are subject to SBP limits based on your account level and verification. For larger, regular foreign income many freelancers also keep a bank account, such as a freelancer digital account, for higher limits and documented foreign remittance records.

Who owns SadaPay now?

SadaPay was acquired by Papara, a Turkish fintech company. The share purchase agreement was announced in May 2024, and the Competition Commission of Pakistan approved the 100% acquisition in August 2024, with State Bank of Pakistan approval also reported. SadaPay continues to operate in Pakistan under its own brand. Ownership changes can bring product changes, so review the app's current terms and schedule of charges periodically.

Which is better for freelancers, SadaPay or NayaPay?

It depends on how your clients pay. If you want to invoice foreign clients directly and get paid quickly in Pakistan, SadaPay's SadaBiz product is built for that. If you mainly receive money through remittance services such as Wise, Remitly or Western Union, NayaPay's wide list of remittance partners is convenient. Many freelancers keep both apps, plus a bank account, and use whichever gives the better rate for a given payment.

Do I need to keep invoices if I receive payments in a wallet?

Yes. Invoices are your proof that foreign receipts are export of services income rather than unexplained deposits. They help when filing your income tax return, applying for a reduced tax rate as a registered IT exporter, explaining transactions to your provider, or applying for visas and loans. Number each invoice, show the client's name and country, the currency and amount, and match it to the receipt in your wallet statement.
